My First Custom!

Yep that is correct. These are images of my first custom toy. I have never sculpted before so I must say it has been very exciting and new for me. I used a DIY Celsius as my platform. I'm looking to enter the custom Celsius Contest. Here is my work in progress. Any feedback is appreciated. Ill post more progress pics soon.
This piece is titled Chupy!

Meeting With Disney

Last week July 14th I flew out to California to meet with the Consumer Products Division at Disney.
The Stationery department to be exact. The company I work for holds the stationery licence with Disney. I was making a presentation on new items and dirctions we at Horizon want to go in. I cant say to much because of course its all TOP SECRET stuff. Lets just say it went very well.

The Consumer Products offices are located a few miles away from the DISNEY Head quarters. I've had the pleasure of visiting both offices on business trips.
Security is tight and in a very Disney style the hallways are filled with Disney art created by Disney artist. Below are a few pics that I took of art on the walls and a small glimpse at their campus.
Security was Tight!
A Princess Dress Made of Bubble Wrap and Foil! This is located next to the receptionist desk.

Across fronm the Receptionist you have a large TRON wall of Art and Display. Unfortunately the TRON bike was out on tour:(

Disney Wall Art!
Cafeteria and folks Barbecuing outside. Now at Disney they know how what lunch time should be like!

More iPad sketches

I've been sketching on my iPad a lot lately. I love the freedom of having one device where I can sketch, draw and create full blown pieces. Check out a few on my new designs.

You can vote to see these designs made into a toy @ Patchtogether
I'm looking for the right design to put out as my first vinyl.
Soon I will start to post images of the first custom toy I'm working on. I'm using a blank Celsius as my platform. I'm looking tom submit it to the contest they are having.

Los Vijigantes View Drawings

A few weeks ago I posted a concept of mine called Los Vijigantes on a site called Patch Together. Patchtogether is a site very similar to Threadless where you get to vote on designs you would like to see manufactured except that Patch Together is for toys. I was just recently contacted by one of the owners of the site Viseone. They would like to make my design into a toy even though I havent had the sufficient votes.

I'm sad that I did not receive the necessary votes but I am excited about seeing my design turned into a Designer Toy.
Below are my view drawings for my concept.

Sketches

Here are a few sketches that I've done lately using my iPad.

My ipad

I just recently purchased the new iPad. I TOTALLY LOVED it.

The main reason I bought mine is to primarily use it as a portable digital sketchbook. I havent been drawing as much for the past few years and I wanted a way to really get back to drawing.

I love using the iPad with Sketchbook pro. Although there are some limitations. For example there is no presure sensitivity the way Sketchbook Pro works when using a Wacom Tablet.
Besides that its great for everything else.
Now I'm looking to purchase the Cintiq from Wacom to really have the total portable Sketchbook feel.

Until then I'll be posting some of my sketches from the iPad. Here is the screen saver  I created for my Ipad.

Concept Sketches

I enjoy the process of developing characters. Here are a few sketches from my art pad. Very ruff and smal. Ill be developing these further and I'll post finished images soon.

Patch Together

Patch Together is a great website were you submit your artwork and just like Threadless the Patchwork community vote on what items they would like to see made into a Toy, Shirt or Print. My concept  Los Vijigantes has been submitted for voting. I think it would make a great toy.

Los Vejigantes

I really liked the character I created for Bloc Heads but the name was really bothering me. I decided to change it to Los Vejigantes. Vejigantes are a tradition in Puerto Rico. Where elaborate mask and costumes are created. origially the costumes and mask were used by the natives with there Spaniard owners to scare off Pirates that raided the island of PR.
This  name is much better so I decided to take one of my sketches to a final. I like the way this turned out. I gotta create more Vejigantes.
Enjoy!
